These differentials are gear type but have enhancements to prevent a loss of traction that can happen if one drive wheel is unloaded with a typical gear type (Torsen, True-Trac, Quaife) differential.  They are compatible with all Solid axle RWD Volvo's that use the 1030/1031 differential.   

 

The speedometer tone ring adapter allows for the factory diameter tone ring used on the g80 rear differentials to be installed onto the Wavetrac.  You can select the correct number of windows or tones with the dropdowns.  Typically ABS cars have the 48 tooth count tone rings and electric speedometer non-abs cars have the 12.
